Aberrant NAD+ metabolism underlies Zika virus-induced microcephaly
Reposted from Nature Metabolism
A study found that nicotinamide riboside (NR) supplementation reduced cell death and increased cortex thickness in Zika virus (ZIKV)-infected mouse brains. NR supplementation increased brain and body weight as well as improved survival in ZIKV-infected mice. This is the first study to show that Zika virus infection affected NAD+ metabolism.
